Races in 1948 and 1949 at Silverstone were not technically part of a Formula 1 Championship season. Silverstone Circuit is built on a bomber station used during World War II called RAF (Royal Air Force) Silverstone.

The Silverstone Circuit was home to the British Grand Prix through 1954 before alternating with the Aintree Motor Racing Circuit from 1955 through 1962. Silverstone saw a major redesign in 1991. The Copse corner and Maggots and Becketts esses were redone and the Stowe, Vale and Club complex, as well as the Bright, Priory, Brooklands, and Luffied complex, were added. That general design would remain until 2010 when the “Arena” section was added. Stay updated on the dynamic F1 standings as drivers navigate these transformed sections of the Silverstone Circuit.

With eight decades of racing history, the British Grand Prix has seen many incredible moments.
